As a part of the Sacred Heritage Series, True North Presents featured…

Travis Cottrell and Melinda Doolittle IN CONCERT at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Monday, October 18, 2010, at the Isaac Stern Auditorium performing with full symphony orchestra and the 245-voice New American Chorus. The symphony and chorus was conducted by renowned Maestro Eric Dale Knapp of New York City. The New American Chorus was comprised of singers from 15 church choirs and choral organizations from all across America.

In their Carnegie Hall debut, Travis and Melinda delivered stunning performances of selected repertoire arranged by noted composer/arrangers David Hamilton, Daniel Semsen and Phillip Keveren, much of which was arranged specifically for this outstanding concert, most notably, the stirring symphonic overture created by Daniel Semsen. This unique concert program allowed the audience a window into the broad vocal range and stylings of both artists, while staying true to Travis and Melinda’s natural ability and desire to point listeners to the sacred focus of this inspiring concert.

Travis Cottrell is well-known for his prolific songwriting and worship leading, particularly as worship leader for Beth Moore Living Proof Conferences, which have taken Travis’ ministry influence around the world inspiring and encouraging many thousands of believers with hope, joy and purpose. There is a tenderness, joy and awesome strength in Travis’ singing…showing not just the versatility of a well-trained voice but the deep passions of a soul. Travis’ anticipated new book, Surprised by Worship. is in recent release.

Melinda Doolittle became a household name after a third-place finish on Season Six of American Idol. Since her stunning debut on American Idol, Melinda has earned an enduring following with her soulful singing, exuberant love of music and sophisticated repertoire. Her debut album, Coming Back to You (2009) was met with rave reviews. Melinda has recently released her new book, Beyond Me, sharing many of her life stories and offering practical guidance and advice for overcoming obstacles and achieving higher goals.

Daniel is currently working on arrangements and orchestrations to be performed at the world renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City this October.  The New American Symphony Orchestra will be performing an original overture of Daniel’s, and his choral arrangements will be performed by a 200-member choir.  Dove Award-winner Travis Cottrell and American Idol favorite, Melinda Doolittle will be featured performers at this special event produced by True North Presents.  Tickets for the concert are available at the Carnegie Hall box office, or on their website(photo courtesy of Carnegie Hall, © Jeff Goldberg/Esto, used by permission)

Travelscope Receives Emmy Nomination


Daniel has composed the score for more than 10 episodes of the TV show Travelscope, which was recently nominated for an Emmy.  Below is an excerpt of the official press release:

New York – May 12, 2010 – The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the nominees for the 37th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards. Travelscope is nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Special Class Series category. With 39 episodes currently in release to public television stations and another 13 episodes poised for release next month, Travelscope host and executive producer, Joseph Rosendo, is delighted and honored by this professional recognition. “It’s a privilege to be so distinguished by our industry peers. We are extremely thankful and grateful for this acknowledgment.”

Daniel’s orchestrations will be featured in the opening ceremonies of the XXI 2010 Winter Olympic Games taking place in Vancouver, Canada.  The ceremonies will be broadcast worldwide, and can be viewed locally on NBC.
