Daniel Nominated for 3 Dove Awards

Today, the Gospel Music Association announced the nominees for the 44th Annual Dove Awards, and Daniel Semsen is nominated 5 times in 3 different categories for his work as arranger and orchestrator.  The winners will be announced on October 15, 2013 at the Allen Arena in Nashville, TN.  Daniel is nominated in the following categories:

Youth/Children’s Musical of the Year:
Spend Awhile on the Nile (created by Christy Semsen; arranged & orchestrated by Daniel Semsen)
The Secret of Snowflake County (created by Christy Semsen; arranged & orchestrated by Daniel Semsen)

Daniel is honored to be nominated this year–for the first time–and is also very proud of his incredibly talented and creative wife, Christy, with which he shares three of the nominations.

This August, Daniel is set to travel to the world-renowned Abbey Road Studio in London to record a album with pianist Ian Oakley.  Daniel is currently orchestrating and arranging some songs on the project, and will conduct the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road along with the album’s co-producer, Phillip Keveren.  Phillip and Ian are also orchestrating and arranging, and the project will include work from one of the most respected film orchestrators today, Tim Simonec. Daniel is honored and privileged to work alongside such incredible talent and skill.

Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure

A little while ago, Daniel had the great opportunity to orchestrate with and assist composer/orchestrator Joseph Alfuso on the score and songs to the film The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure.  The film releases in theaters nationwide on Aug. 29, 2012.  If you have young children, they will love it! TRAVELSCOPE® Wins EMMY® for Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Photography

Los Angeles – June 17, 2011 – The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) tonight announced Travelscope, the PBS travel television series hosted by award-winning travel journalist Joseph Rosendo and now in its sixth season, as one of the winners of the 38th Annual Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy® Awards.

In his acceptance speech from the podium at the grand gala for more than 1,000 attendees at the Westin Bonaventure in downtown Los Angeles, Zebediah Smith, Travelscope’s primary shooter, editor and production supervisor, said, “Thank you for the personal recognition. Yet, I also want to thank Julie and Joseph Rosendo and everyone associated with Travelscope, because it takes an entire crew of creative individuals to make an entertaining and culturally-rich show like Travelscope.”

After the awards ceremony, Joseph Rosendo, Travelscope’s Host and Executive Producer, offered the following remarks, “We are grateful that each week Travelscope has the opportunity to prove the words of Mark Twain that, ‘Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness’. My producer and wife, Julie Rosendo and I are grateful to Zeb and everyone that made this great honor possible — including the Academy members and PBS viewers everywhere.”

TRAVELSCOPE RECEIVES FOUR TELLY AWARDS INCLUDING THE PRESTIGIOUS SILVER TELLY AWARD

The Telly Awards honor the very best local, regional and cable television programs and commercials, as well as the finest video and film productions, and work created for the Web. Since 1978, their mission has been to strengthen the visual arts community by inspiring, promoting, and supporting creativity.

This year’s 32nd Annual Telly Awards received over 13,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents.    Travelscope is honored to have been awarded The Telly’s highest honor – a Silver Telly Award in the Film / Video category for “Crossing the Swiss Alps,” which is airing on PBS television stations nationwide as part of Travelscope’s 4th season.

Distributed in the United States by American Public Television to more than 500 PBS stations and world-wide by Pop Twist Entertainment, Travelscope’s Crossing the Swiss Alps and 64 other Travelscope episodes may be seen on PBS and are available on Amazon’s Video on Demand.
Additionally, Travelscope was honored with three Bronze Telly Awards for Guatemala – Seeking the Past in Tikal and Yaxha; New Brunswick, Canada’s Acadian Festival; Germany’s Winter Carnival.

Executive Producer and Host Joseph Rosendo is a member of the prestigious Society of American Travel Writers. In addition to this year’s Silver Telly Award, Joseph is the recipient of an Emmy nomination, 7 Telly Awards, Canada’s Globe and Mail Travel Media Award and Northern Lights Broadcast Awards, as well as several Lowell Thomas Journalism Awards for video and audio broadcasts and numerous awards from the Society of American Travel Writers.
